ATTENTION - Revised Filing Deadlines due to COVID-19. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New Jersey has extended the deadline for filing property tax assessment appeals to May 1. This deadline will now apply to properties located in all 23 municipalities in Atlantic County. May 1 was already the deadline for Atlantic City and Pleasantville.
The Board of Taxation office remains closed to the public, but they are available by telephone from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. In addition there is a drop box located in the lobby of their building at 5909 Main Street in Mays Landing for the deposit of petitions and evidence.
All filings can continue to be made by mail as long as the petition is received by their office before 4:30 PM on May 1, 2020.
Please note that all forms and instructions needed for filing an appeal, are on the Board of Taxation website - see link provided. Petitioners seeking comparable sales can perform an online search by clicking on “How to Find Comparable Sales” on that page.

The City of Northfield municipal offices are currently closed to the public as a precautionary measure in response to the Covid-19 virus. New Jersey state statute requires that all applications for Marriage shall be made in person. Accordingly, until further notice, Marriage applications will not be accepted or issued. We will accept Marriage applications once the City of Northfield municipal offices resume normal operation.
As you may know, the City of Northfield had to cancel our annual free rabies clinic, which had been scheduled for March 21st. We hope to be able to reschedule, but we are not sure it will be possible and have no details at present.
In order to give our residents extra time to have their dog or cat vaccinated without being subject to a late licensing fee, the deadline for renewing pet licenses has been extended. With the extension, no late fees will be due if licenses are renewed by May 31st; any license renewed June 1st or later will be subject to a $5 late fee.
As always pet licenses can be renewed by mail and a link to the renewal form has been provided. Rabies vaccinations must be valid through at least 10/31/2020 in order to renew.
Stay well, Northfield!
